Jerusalem is a city in the Near East, it holds a central place in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions.

The city covers an area of 125.1 km2 and has a population of approximately 1 million inhabitants. The city, the capital of the Jerusalem district, is cosmopolitan: many religions, peoples, and socio-economic groups mix there. The Old City occupies a relatively small area but is historically composed of four neighborhoods: Muslim, Armenian, Christian and Jewish respectively.

Jerusalem is located at an altitude of about 800 meters and 33 km from the Dead Sea.

In 2021, the eleventh Gay Pride took place in Jerusalem.
