DuPrem House and Alpaca Stud is an early 17th Century Grand Farmhouse in the heart of the Marcillac and Gaillac wine regions of south west France located just outside the celebrated and picturesque bastide town of Villefranche de Rouergue. This idyllic independent property is situated in its’ own spectacular and unspoilt 11 acre estate with a private, well stocked lake, fruit orchard, panoramic views across the stunning Aveyron countryside, along with a 13m X 6m Heated swimming pool and 8 person Hot Tub.
Once through the wrought iron gates of the large stone-walled courtyard the newly renovated living accommodation respectfully preserves the original character of the property whilst successfully enhancing it with luxurious contemporary design.
The house sleeps eight in three large well appointed double bedrooms. Each with their own private bathroom facilities.
The house is designed for large gatherings with an impressive 50sq metre lounge with imported leather sofas, contemporary log burning fire, large flat screen TV, DVD player and Wii games console ideal for those lazy afternoons or an evening entertaining throughout the year. The formal dining room also enjoys its own contemporary log burning fire and comfortable seating for 10 with additional seating and space for up to 14 people allowing the benefit to eat in style the endless seasonal produce the region has to offer at our Table D'hotes.
The summers are long in the Aveyron and as you step out of the large oak double doors of the house you can enjoy the courtyard with its variety of private ancient barns and bread-oven to explore or simply relax as the courtyard and Pool basque in the sun all day long and well into the evening, but not without their lazy shady areas. You can relax and dine al fresco or maybe even successfully top up that tan well into the autumn with the variety of comfortable garden furniture supplied with the property.
Once you have chosen when to visit there are a whole range of activities to cater for all tastes on offer in the region. For the more active they including fantastic fishing (coarse and predatory), skiing, cycling, rambling, hiking, Golf, horse riding and other outdoor pursuits.
For those looking for a taste of French living there are restaurants with tasty 4 course meals including local wine starting from €13 up to superb, reasonably priced (unlike some elsewhere) Michelin star restaurants, fantastic vineyards, endless fetes and daily markets where you will find a whole host of local meats, wines and other great produce.
The region also celebrates having the most of the “l’un des plus beaux villages de France than any other region. 10 of which are all within close proximity of the house. A little further afield you have the fantastic Millau viaduct and the large city of Toulouse. Both are well worth a visit.
